Hi guys,

I've been looking around and I found a thread through google. (here - http://www.landyzone.co.uk/lz/f9/boot-storage-units-224374.html)

The post from 'Matacaibo' is very helpful but I would like to make something up to hang off the door to hold a cooker and have the gas bottle on the floor.

Is this something I could do, or would the door hinges not be up to it? Seems no one else has done it, so there must be a good reason!

Thanks in advance, and if you have done it... I would love to see some photos!

I think you'll find a camping stove weighs nothing compared to the Freelander's spare wheel and its carrier. Maybe a little more than the dog guard LR sell - but not much. So you have no worries with weight.

Idbe looking at utilising the spare wheel fixings I'd imagine a local engineering firm would charge peanuts to knock something up...

Now prob not big enough for what you want but you can buy tyre steps and I'd say that design just made bigger would work you could maybe even use the hippos wheels or the spare if you modded one...

It will be interesting to see what you come up with. Its a pain trying to get my little portable gas stove set up somewhere to cook my morning porridge!

Main meals are usually done in the smoker cooking the day's catch (the stainless 'box') :)

But they're on the outside and the stove would be inside with the window separating them.

Its the 15Kg camping gas bottle you need to worry about

Yeh but he said that would go on the floor. Depends how long the camping trips are - but I'm sure a small bottle would be sufficient anyway.
