My Defender had it's MOT last week, and the tester commented on the quality of the replaced crossmember - he was very impressed!

A 110 rear cross member does cost a little more than on a 90 due to the fuel tank. I had mine done in 2009 by MIB components (see the first thread) and its still solid. It has been used for towing etc and its fine no corrosion or anything like that. looks like it will last another 19 years

Just been on a very well known 4x4/landrover specialists website and Ive just noticed they now sell a x member very similar to mine.
The price..........£396!!!!!

I have heard people pay less than that to have it fitted as well
yes that is true,I just want a living making stuff for my favourite motors not screwing the customer coin, also being in essex my prices have to be competitive to get people to drive 150m to me and lastly I actually make them in house which makes a difference to cost

i'll be needing a new one for my 90 before the mot at the end of july, essex is a bit far for me to travel, pressbrake could you make one with extensions on so i could get it fitted locally? as the legs that the crossmember attaches to are holed as well.

See the original thread on here. MIB components make there's in house 3mm thick with legs and that was fitted and a dam good job was done.
Because they are to the original design they will collect water in folded seams and fail,I could make direct like for like replacements, quick and cheaper to make but make no sense to me.

Aye - Ian at MIB does a good job, give him a buzz and take your pick.

Low 'food miles' if your in the Midlands!

I ordered a x member from pressbrake aka 177flump last Monday, it arrived Thursday and fitted Friday by a friend of mine.
Well impressed and have recommended on a few other Landy forums I go on.
