Trying to get old springs off to fit New ones but having undone shock & 2 spring retaining bolts I cannot lever the spring of the lug on the axles. I have ACE and was hoping to not have to undo those links.

Any ideas please?

Stuart

I did that a while ago and the long arm of the ACE anti-roll bar turned by about 30 degrees. It disconnected and reconnected the drop-link with one heck of a bang when I went round a corner. I ended up replacing the ACE anyway due to corrosion in the pipes and a knackered pump.

The best bet is to disconnect the top of both drop-links (16mm spanner and 18mm socket, I think) and then do as the Mad Hat Man says. Keep an eye on the brake-lines and ABS wire though; you don't want to try and stretch those. I found it easier to take the caliper off.

Are you putting taller/uprated springs on your car? I know that you can replace the springs without having to resort to spring compressors. I have just done it on my car.

HD springs, dimensions seem the same. I couldn't drop the axles enough to get the originals out.
I assume having ACE makes it harder and I didn't want to get into stripping brake scalpers off Tec so went down the compressor route.

Put compressors on old springs before any attempt at removal. Then they cannot expand as you increase the distance between chassis and axle.

And pickup your free boot bag when you collect.
