Are there any tricks to getting the rear bumper off an old disco.Which set of bolts is it as they are all swines to get at.The pair that actually hold the bumper to the bracket or the ones that hold the bracket to the chassis.

there are 4 bolts - the ones that go for-aft tend to shear the nuts with in the bumper - i had to cut my bumper up in situ and then just remove the bolts.

Simple. If its a 300 Tdi.
Take the bumper lights out. Look in holes you will see 2 17mm (I think) bolt heads facing sideways. Remove bolts the bumper will come off.
Unlike the bolts under the bumper these 4 bolt heads are usually almost as new.
Other advantage, when you come to refit bumper it is fully aligned, no fiddling required.
