Howdy again.

Not having kids, I haven't ever really sat in the back of my Disco and tried the rear audio controls.

Until today (Yes, I was really that bored)

And they didn't work! I plugged in some headphones, and nothing happened. Neither of the units seem to work! A bit of googling told me that the units should light up when the radio is on, and they don't do that either! :(

Anyone know of an obvious way that they might have been disconnected or disabled? They seem to be completed dead! :(

Thanks in advance!

James

Had a brainwave 5 mins after writing this (yes, I'm still that bored)

..Try it with the ignition on - hmmm there's a clever idea

Yes, it works...

So, there you go, if you want to use the rear audio, the ignition needs to be at least position 1.

Thankyou and goodnight....

They are in the boot on ES models on the trim next to the side windows. not sure at what trim level you get rear headphone sockets.

I think (but could be wrong) that you get them when you have the Harmon Kardon stereo upgrade (Which I have).

More info here

Gingerbread men, eh! Who'd have thought it.

What do you think of the Harmon Kardon Hifi then james? every now and again I get the cd changer playing up and have to eject the cartrige then it's ok.

It's good - but not as bassy as I thought it might be, considering it's got an extra subwoofer..? I've had that CD problem once, thought that it had died as it just wouldn't recognise/acknowledge any of the discs! Only way I got it to detect them was to shuffle them around (the order) in the cartridge. Has been fine since!!
