Hi all,

Has anyone had any experience re trimming early land rover 90 seats (with the plastic squab backing).

I am looking at this re trim kit - https://www.paddockspares.com/retrim-kit-black.html

I know it says for slightly later seats but I am under the impression its possible

Thanks
Have you got a photo of the seats and also what year is your Landy?

I have re-trimmed seats in a 1989 Land Rover 90 and it was easy enough. I went with Masai 4X4 covers which looked great.

The video I linked is really useful to follow step by step.

Hi

its a 1986 LR90.

The seat base looks the same as my 1990 ones i have re trimmed just the other day. You can probably re trim with the kit available, frame looks the same basic shape.

I had the same dilemma as you, with the same plastic back seats.
I’m the end I bought a second hand pair of the newer style in better nick than mine, knowing I could get retrim kits down the line.
The problem I encountered with this is that the older seat frames have a different mount than the newer ones but I made risers to make them fit.
I’ve still got the old seats if you want them but I suspect they’re as bad as yours.
