HI,

Loads of stuff on here about rave and how good it is and also loads of stuff about how difficult it is to open.

I have an apple mac not windows.

Can I use rave on a mac?
if so where and how do I get a download on the web.

All the best

Mark

Try @MrGorsky as he uses a Mac. Think the Mac version is not as good.
Thanks for info. I will contact him now.
Update - I changed my battery today. Followed all instructions obtained from here. I found a couple of blown fuses behind the clove box! Changed them. Adjusted the glove box catch. Plugged in my new icarsoft i930. Said no faults but it seem to be lacking in information regarding usage other than basic. ie in manual it says on some systems - error in communication with vehicle ECU. another ECU EEPROM fault and in Automatic setting says all is working correctly? Do you know where I can get more detailed information about codes and faults?
I stopped the car took out key shut all doors and sat and listened to see if I could hear or see any power drains - I could hear a mechanical motor / drive under the engine bonnet next to the large air black plastic box on the drivers side??? I plugged the Icarsoft in again and tested and cleared unknown faults - noise stopped. So hopefully no battery drain. I checked with a clamp on ammeter. No amps showing?

So a reasonable first day with my RR!!!!

All the best

Sorry, which model is this? The P38? If a P38 then if it is a diesel you will get nothing from an ODB2 reader. Petrol might get a few engine codes back. For a P38 you need a nanocom or Lynx or Hawkeye, something like that to see anything. There's a cable @Datatek will build for you to use with Storey Wilson's software for the EAS.

Just noticed your other posts. So assume this is an L322.

Scratch what I said about MrGorsky. He's got a P38. I think RAVE for the L322 is online only but there might be a PDF copy. You need @holidaychicken or @Saint.V8 to know about code readers and what's available for the L322.

Its a pdf copy that I would like - not into windows or computer as such.
I am diesel mechanic ( cat, detroit, cumins etc etc plus alison and cat transmissions etc) old school. Computers and the ECU , EEPROM and can bus etc etc - going to take me a long time to get my head around this lot

Girlfriend has a Mac Book Pro, I'll see if I can get RAVE on that - it is just a PDF file....

As for diagnostics....

All Comms is by far the best value for money - including getting it imported from the states...is what I use and it is a really good piece of kit.

If you have a bit more dosh, the GAPDiagnostics IIDTool is a handy carry in the car device, it uses the dash message display so if yours is fecked, you're screwed!, But they do so a bluetooth version I believe that links to an external device.

Lynx has a mixed bag of reviews, never used, can't comment.

Bearmach Hawkeye - is meant to be OK, but can't recalibrate the Air Suspension so seems pointless to me, but can read live data.

There is the iCarSoft device, never used, but reportedly not a bad bit of kit.

For the more flush, there is the Faultmate Extreme - which is the fecking nuts, uber powerful and you can do what the feck you like to your car with it...even make it thinks its a toaster.....!!! but budget nearly £1000 for it!

Snap On do a line of devices like the Solus, but they are aimed more at the Pro-Sumer market and are expensive.

Thanks for reply. That would be great if you could get me a PDF copy.
I looked at all the diagnostic tools and there does seem to be some great kit. I thought I would start with a basic reader and learn a few things first and get some hands on experience. I will re look next year.
all the best

I have a PDF Copy that I use on Mac OSX. Will upload to Google Drive so I can share it if anyone wants a copy.

Only limitation is that you must open it with Adobe Acrobat ( Index & Links don't work with Max Preview App).
It's fully searchable and covers these models:

Download the Zip file, and extract it keeping the folder structure. Then if using Mac open the file "rave-lr.pdf" using Acrobat Reader DC.

Link in Technical Archive !! **** Include your forum name when requesting, or no access ***
