Decided to get to bottom of the increasingly crap braking on my 110 and found the tiny split in the face of the servo, adjacent to one of the cylinder mounting pins.

Avoiding Chinese junk, decided to go for a TRW branded servo. Opened the box, shook the servo and there was a distinct internal rattle -- clearly something moving about within. Decided this didn't seem right and went elsewhere to try another. Just the same, fresh out of the box.

Decided to remove the old, duff unit and see if that rattled -- nothing.

Have now spoken to a very helpful gentleman at TRW who said he didn't think it correct there should be anything rattling around loose within and he will have an answer for me tomorrow.

Just wondered, firstly, whether anyone else has come across this and secondly mention it as something to be aware of, particularly if you are mail ordering and if it turns out to be incorrect. I will post back as soon as I have a definitive answer.

Mike.

Update from TRW. They say that providing the input shaft isn't loose, the rattle not of concern. I have fitted the new piece and it appears to work OK, but still don't fathom why they would make it with something so loose inside.
