Range rover vogue sat nav froze on land rover screen HELP!!!

Hi guys
I've been looking all over the forum but can't seem to find the right answer.
I have a 2005/05 range rover vogue 3.0 diesel.
We'll I was driving one day, had the music on and all of a sudden the cd froze. So I touched screen to change cd but it wasn't reacting, clicked power button to turn it off still wouldn't turn off. Was not reacting at all.
So I turned the car of took the key out put it back on and ever since the stereo has been stuck on the 'land rover logo".
This has been going on for a few weeks now, checked all fuses they seem fine. Done a hard reset still no luck.
Today I checked the boot for any water, under the spare tire there was some water on the wires. ://
Any ideas on what I will need to do to get it fixed?
There's power going through as the power button is flashing.

I'd rather try everything before going to dealers. Don't want them having my pants down lol
 
Remove the trim from the nearside rear quarter in the boot and see if any of the kit is wet. Wait for the LED to go out on the SatNav and disconnect the battery, unplug the connectors and look for corrosion and corroded off pins. that is the usual cause of this type of problem, although yours being a 2005 it may not be the same.

I disconnected the battery and checked all the wires and connectors. They all seemed perfect. I couldn't get to back of the DVD/sat nav player as the connectors are on the back of it and the Nokia unit is resting directly above it. However it does work as it ejects the sat nav CD.

Is there anything else I can check or even replace?
Would removing the the actual sat nav screen and checking the wires be of any benefit?

Just because it ejects the CD does not mean it works. You need to part all the connectors and check for corrosion.

Sorry for the late reply. I only just managed to disconnect all of the connectors and take the satnav and Nokia units out to check them. After looking at all of the connectors I could not find any corrosion.
I did contact Land Rover they said that they will charge £95 + vat 😱 per hour and it may take several hours to identify the problem. That's only identifying it and not repairing it. Robbing B******s.

Is there anything else I can check? I was thinking off just replacing everything and putting in an aftermarket screen. If I was to do that would the trip computer still work?

If you have the touchscreen satnav,it's possible that one of the units (nokia or TMC unit) are knackered. You could try disconnecting and bypassing the fibre optic cable connections on each unit in turn. There's a way to do it, not sure exactly how...I think a search will get you to there, but if I remember right it involves a short bit of drinking straw or pipe to create the connection between the MOST Connectors.
Also check the fuse for the TMC unit (Traffic Message Control/Communication), they were fitted to the 05 model Vogues, but then switched off in the Satnav configuration software, so most people dont realise they've got them installed.

Yes that's what I mean, try bypassing each unit in the MOST satnav chain, then you might find which unit is not working.

P.S. also check all the fuses again, especially the TMC (or could be TMS) one, I had my satnav system go down, just as you described, and it was the 5amp fuse for the TMC/S system that had gone.

I bypassed them all one by one but it's still stuck on the land rover screen.
Where would I find the TMC/S fuse? I've checked them all and they all seem fine
 
Try Fuse No. 22 in the fusebox in the glovebox. It's a 5amp fuse for the TMC and Telephone (If you have a phone cradle fitted). This fuse went on my RR when I accidentally grounded the power cable from the TMC whilst fitting my upgrade digital tv module and I ended up with the same problem, LandRover logo only on satnav screen and nothing else would work.
 
Have you checked the CD Autochanger Unit in the glovebox, can you eject the CD Cartridge? There are several fuses that control all of the Audio / Satnav units, these being:
In the Glovebox Fusebox:-
Fuse 14 - 5Amp (Aux Heater, Audio System, On board Monitor, On board Computer) , Fuse 22 - 5Amp (for TMC / Telephone), Fuse 40 - 5Amp (for CD Autochanger), Fuse 49 - 30Amp (Main Audio System Fuse)
In the rear Loadspace Fusebox:-
Fuse 2 - 10Amp (Nav System, Audio System), Fuse 3 - 30Amp (Audio System)

Maybe worth checking / double checking all these fuses.
It's also possible that the problem is with the CD Autochanger in the glovebox, so maybe worthwhile checking the connections to that unit (although you may have to resort to removing part of the dashboard to gain access).
If you do manage to find the problem (knackered part), it may be best to get a replacement for the failed unit off fleabay, rather than trying to rip out the audio/satnav system to fit an aftermarket, There's always plenty of cheap satnav bits on there.

I was trying to check the multi cdchanger because when the screen froze the first time it was on the CD/Music screen. The music stopped and it wouldn't let me even change the CD by touching the screen. So I decided to eject the CDs from the Cd changer while the screen was on/froze.
Ever since it has just been on the Land Rover splash screen.
I found a bit of water under the spare tire but none on the satnav and Nokia units.
The CD changer does eject CDs but I will double check the fuses.
Is there anyway to check the larger fuses?
 
I find the best way to check the fuses is to take the 'suspect' one out and swap it with a same AMP rated fuse on a system that you know is working, there's plenty of 5Amp, 10Amp and 30Amp systems on the Range Rover. If the system still works, the fuse is okay, if not then there's the problem. I have had a couple of occasions when I've looked at a 'suspect' fuse and it seems okay (not visibly blown or burned out), but the link inside the fuse has only just separated and is not making a circuit.

When you did the MOST cable bypass, could you see a faint red light from the connector (i.e. the fibre-optic light)?

Even if everything is dry in the satnav area, there's still the possibility that a tiny amount of water has got in to one of the units, unfortunately it doesn't take much to cause havoc with the electronics. Might be worthwhile, if all else fails, to take the units out and open them up to see if any water has got in.

If the Land Rover Logo Screen is on and the light is flashing, then there's power to the system, it's just tracking down the fault that's the hard part.

I've just checked the fuses all are good but I will try what you have just told me.
I bypassed the Nokia unit first and there was a red light from the wire, that didn't work so I tried doing it to the others. I did it one by one but still had no luck.
The only 2 things I haven't checked is the wiring at the back of the CD Changer but it ejects CDs fine so there is power going through and I haven't check the headunit itself.
Do you think the software could need resetting or updating?
I've booked it in with a auto electrician tomorrow so if I can't figure out the fault myself hopefully he can fingers crossed.
