My old man had a series 3 109 petrol and he loved it

That's about as reliable as they get.

The v8 diesel isn't much more fuel economic than the petrol. You'd do better off with the Jag engine on LPG but I would want a flashlube system fitted if on LPG. It will let you down one day though, guaranteed. If it is your only car and has to be reliable then you have to follow Datatek's advice and go for the Land Cruiser or Shogun.

You can buy a handful of p38s for the price of one -about to break- tdv8. The interiors not quite as nice but if you get the diesel once they are fixed they stay that way.

For a while...

Except EAS.

Or MAF.

Or spills.

Or door microswitches.

Or headlining
Or blend motors
Heater matrix o-rings, exhaust boxes, hubs, callipers, sensors, tank pumps, footwell leaks, window regulators, coolant pumps, ancillary pullies, radiators, brake lines, auto boxes, tie rods etc etc

You can See why they are the reliable RangeRovers hardly anything to go wrong compared to the others ;)
Just a few common niggles.

.. and then there’s the ones that go senile in the ecus for no apparent reason (they all do!)
