Correction … historically they have made a great many good ones & I've owned some of them over the decades :D
But then they lost the plot, buyer's tastes changed out of all proportion & LR responded accordingly … after all they are in business with share holders to keep on side. We of the 'old guard' wouldn't touch one with a barge pole, but then we are not today's buyers & nobody forces those to part with their money or keep the finance companies in profit
Unfortunately, your correct... :(
I won't part with mine :D..

For now..

Good morning.. I'm torn between a 09 Lwb shogun or 08 ffrr V8 diesel. I know what I would like but it's the reliability factor I got to think about

Peoples expectations changed as a result of marketing manipulation, people cannot want that which they do not know exists. Steve Jobs was the master of creating demand where there was none. It was JLR and other vehicle manufactures that, in competition with each other, drove the market.

For me it would be no contest, the Shogun every time. Don't forget the political war on diesels, here there is the promise of diesels being banned by 2025, already it is not possible to take a pre 2005 diesel into many French cities, so soon all diesel cars will be worthless.

Very true but I can't afford to run a petrol 4x4 at the moment lol . It would only be doing taking me and the Mrs to work so I,d be lucky to get 12 15 mpg lol

lol was also considering a land cruiser 4.7 lpg . It's so frustrating . Don't know if to bite the bullet and get a range rover you only live once

The Land Cruiser would be my first choice if I ever win the lottery, Shogun next choice.
I personally wouldn't have any modern Range Rover as a gift unless it was still covered by the manufacturers warranty, then I could put it into British Car Auctions without having to declare any problems. I could use the cash to buy a decent car.
