I had to replace the front cv joint for my 2002 4.4 HSE last month due to the ring not moving when the wheel is being turned, ordered, fitted and I had hoped the abs fault would go away, but I get an error message saying “toothed wheel error”. I don’t know what this means, I ordered the cv joint which online, said it would fit my car. My husband did a live data analysis and he said the front drivers wheel was moving a lot faster than the other 3 tyres. Do I have to order another cv joint or is there a solution/fix? TIA

Did the new CV joint have a reluctor ring fitted to it?

Did it have the same number of teeth as the old one?
Good point. If the numbers it fteeth don't match there will be a conflit within the system. The sensors are bothered by each teeth that passes jn front of it. The lesser teeth mean a slower wheel and more teeth would suggest a faster wheel. It may be worth pulling the bearing carrier out and counting to be sure. ;)

Not sure, didn’t count them as didn’t realise they would come with different amount of teeth. I got it from eBay and the car match thing said it was compatible. Would I have to buy from a reputable seller/store? Or is the reluctor ring removable and easily changed?

Would you by any chance know how many teeth they’re suppose to be? My original reluctor ring broke apart.

I counted 61 teeth.

I've never had to remove one or refit to be honest.. The cv joints aren't cheap either for a good one. I think it's blueprint who do a cv joint for the buses. A sister company of febi bilstien. Stein Steen Stimpy... Some bloody ien!!!

If the old ring broke and you still have the bits offer a piece up to the new one if the teeth are the same size it should be right, if they are wider or smaller then it's wrong.

Measure the distance between the two lines and compare the results to your new one . The ring for a start looks like a totally different make up and if the distance is wrong it won't read the ring gear.. ;)

Arrr plop...... I didn't read that well did i:oops: sorry kids ignore my stupidity

You are trying, or is that your SWMBO line:)
At least you had a pic of a cv joint on a worktop:) how many browny points did you get/lose for that:eek:

But the toof count is still an issue as has been seen in other models with cheap replacements, and would answer the reason for the problem:).

But here’s your score BC94B8CA-F297-4D11-A1F4-827844B532BE.jpeg
