Range Rover TD6?

So my dads thinking of getting rid of 2 cars to have just the one. He's always been interested in Range Rovers but never actually had one!

He's been looking at them and has found a 2006 TD6 with 40,000 miles. Though the one big concern he has is the reliability of them?

The MPG isn't an issue, or the speed. It's just the reliability after some of the horror stories you hear!!!

A Range rover is not just a car, it's a hobby:eek: Reliability is not a word that is recognised by Land Rover:eek::eek: They are even having problems with the new Evoque my mole tells me and it has not been released yet:rolleyes:

Depending on the price an '06 TD6 is probably the sweet-spot in used L322s. Great comfort, most economical of the range without being underpowered like the P38 diesels and (my learned colleagues' comments not withstanding :p ) quite dependable since what major problems they had with the first release were ironed out by then.

Hasn't it?! I swore I thought I saw one driving around in Berlin last week. :confused:

It really does look a bit like Japanese transformer robot mated to a BMW mini. I wouldn't get one but but I can see its appeal to a much younger market that's not interested in the whole RR tartan and tweed heritage.

Just get one ! as soon as you test drive one you will fall in love with it :D

yes there a pain and costly but there worth it !

iv seen a few on 200,000 miles and still going - like any car they all have problems ! :p

There are a few pre release ones about but official sales release is I think the 1st September. Why would anyone pay £40K for a Gaylander in a new frock:confused: They have 23,000 firm orders so far, so thats 23,000 numptys:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:
 
im selling my 55 plate l322 its in the for sale section
makes no sence to buy the diesel for only 5 mpg more than the 320hp v8 jag engine
 
Hi, having sold my E46 M3 for a 2005 Range Rover Vogue, I LOVE IT and touch wood not a thing gone wrong with it yet, (only had it 2 months thought) tell your dad to go out there and get himself one i'm sure he will not be disappointed with it.
 
im getting around 21MPG in my td6 - thinking of mabe using an economy chip for extra MPG - they apparantly can do 30MPG after being chipped :confused::confused::confused:

Hi mate, when I first picked my TD6 up it was showing 23mpg then I had it remapped when i got it and the computer now shows 30 running around town, I had a run from South Yorkshire to Portsmouth a couple of weeks ago and it showed 38.7 and that was doing between 70 -90 mph, well happy.

how much was your remap ??

yes its all well the dash saying 38.7 MPG but im sure these are slightly exaggerated have you actually worled out what your actual MPG is ?

have you tried working it out by brimming the tank and then recording your range untill your empty ?

If MPG isn't an issue, but reliability is then go for the V8 petrol version not TDV6. Diesel gearboxs are weak and if you look through this forum you'll see alot of them failing. V8 gearbox is different and seems to be more reliable. Plus you get the nice sound of a V8 rather than a rattly diesel that way too! :)

As a whole I think L322's aren't that unreliable if you service them properly and don't drive them like they are stolen!
