Hi Guys, just joined up and urgently require some direction regarding special tool 303-1455 Camshaft (HPFP) sprocket holding tool.
I purchased a non runner 2007 Range Rover Sport TDV6 last September at a good price! Originally, I was informed that the Turbo was the issue however, on getting the Sport transported to my location it was discovered that not only the Turbo was at fault but the main stay of the crank, non start condition was due to a coolant hose leak, engine overheating, head gasket failure.
The Sport cooling system was flooded with fuel and several components including the Turbo had enjoyed its last days!
I have worked tirelessly in my spare time in getting this non running Sport back to its former glory which only last week I did! New Head Gaskets, Turbo, HPFP, Alternator, Water Pump, Oil Pump, Injectors, all belts changed and job done! She fired up and sounds great!
Now the bad news after so much hard work! I have a trail of engine oil gently making its way down the Turbo heat shield which after further investigation appears to be at the rear Camshaft Seal.
I do not want to take this vehicle apart any longer.
I am making every attempt to obtain special tool 303-1455 Camshaft holding tool to minimise any further work.
The problem I have is, Bosch have the tool listed for £198.00 and I have seen it on a German website for 348 euros!
I can not purchase from Bosch as I am not VAT registered and the 348 euros seems excessive especially as the item is aftermarket.
Another independent company stated that they could obtain the tool on my behalf but marked the price up by £200!!! Ridiculous!
I really could do with some help! One Landrover Independent Garage has quoted me £500 to do the job! Just appears to be excessive as if I had the tool I could readily carry out the repair myself.
This engine has virtually been rebuilt by myself from the block up with the body on! I just don’t want to give up after all the hard work!
If anyone has any ideas where I can obtain this tool, please can you get in touch?! Any help whatsoever is appreciated!
