I know, I know, I'm being a tart and trying to make the P38 look like something its not, but I want to fit a Rangey Sport grill to my P38...

There are loads on Ebay for lots of money, that are premodified, but I've acquired one for peanuts, and intend to mod it myself/get my tame bodyshop to do it cheap....

So, my question is, does anyone have one fitted to their car that they could take off and take some pics of please - front, back, sides, top, bottom etc - just so I can get an idea of what needs chopping about...

Thanks in advance all....

Rob

Drill holes & paint the original grill instead. Keeps the proportions and looks better than the Sport grills.

Hmmm, not bad, not bad...

Two problems I see though -

1) getting all the holes in exactly the right positions - a slight deviation would stand out...

2) not having a grill on the car whilst you drill a coupla hundred holes then paint it!

Hmmm, anyone got a spare grill floating about I can practice on??

Ok, you should put some tape on it (not sure about the english word, the kind of paper tape you use to mask off what you do not want to paint) Then you measure the distance and mark on the tape the first line of holes. Then you take a cardboard and make holes for the 1. 2. and 3. line of holes. Drag the cardboard until you find the next 1. hole and mark the 2. and 3. Then drill. Painting is fast, sand it down, plastic primer, 2 layers of color and 2 layers of clear coat. I did it all in a weekend, the car can be used without the grill. I have also painted the light wiper covers and the bar below the light in the same color.

Masking Tape....

Don't s'pose you've got a free weekend coming up where you'd like to drill and paint a grille do you? LOL :);):):):):)

Well, if you come over to Norway I could show you how to do it.. It really is not that much work, and it looks very good. I am going to take some pictures of my own car tomorrow, the picture I posted was from an ebay auction where I got the idea.

BTW, what is the correct english word for the tape you use for paintwork ?

Am I missing something? I can't find the pictures of the "overfinch" grill, just a gold coloured P38 with a what looks like a winter blanket over the grill?

:jaw: I think the decimal point is in the wrong place...

10 out of 10 for having a go but nil points for market research...

I only paid 600 notes for my whole P38...

You guys ....

anyway I have amended the Pic to show one that is colour coded with the strip at the bottom attached to show what it can lookm like once spayed and fitted

Don't you just love it !!

Cheers Chaps

really appreciate the feedback (as mentioned previously The Mrs is rolling on the floor with some of your comments) positive and negative

I think I might not quit my day job just yet !!

I guess I should have placed the colour coded photo initially, - we live and we learn

Interesting thing is I have a few watchers on both grills, but I'm not sure if its all you guys !!
