I am in Iceland at the moment and have just done 5000 miles with my range rover and when I get back to the mainland will be going through Russia again and will probably be endind up doing about 20000 miles in 6 months .
the rangie has 205000 on the clock now and I have done 100000 of them in the 5 yrs I have owned it mainly in Europe and Asia.

Only joking on the spares needed to carry

A credit card, I'm guessing. :)

Talking about Hotels Datatek, What are the rules for wild camping in France? Can i park up with a tent or is it camp site only?
Hotels or camp sites only strictly speaking. There are municipal camp sites that are very reasonable in many towns/villages although stupid EU rules have closed some.
For Hotels look at Logis de France, much more interesting than the big chain hotels and quite reasonable in many cases.

Make sure the sound system works and if not take some ear plugs!!

You know what it's like, every small creek or rattle with have you on tender hooks. You could be a nervous wreck by the time you get there!!

I've been round Wales and then over to Germany and back and both times mine never let me down (and yes it was the car I drove!!)

Good luck.

As posted, go for the municipal sites, very reasonable and some are sited in places you would not believe. Stayed in a castle grounds in Blaye and one (where my clutch went and I was stuck for 8 days) had a beautiful village, lovely people and a trout stream to pass the time waiting for parts to come from England
