How can i find out if my range rover has a 4 pin differential or a 2 pin differential?. it's a 1999 4.6 thor (T) Date of first registration was 01 03 1999. Reason is i have a slight clunk after moving from reverse to forward gears and same the other way around, someone told me if its a 2 pin dif then the holes the pins fit in get out of shape and cause it to clunk. His other thought was a loose chain in the box.

I think mine is the 94-99 and not the 99-02. "was the change over after march"? thanks'. :)

With the amount of gear in the drive line, I would have though a slight clunk was almost inevitable, UJ's, transfer box chain, centre diff not to mention front and rear diff's and CV joints:)

Being a Thor 4.6 it will have 4 wheel TC and therefore should have a four pin front diff.
