Range Rover P38 4.6 GEMS Catalytic Converter

Hello,
I am have been looking all over for a cat for my 1997 P38 4.6, does anyone have one or know of one?

Mine got damaged and the insides were blown out the exhaust.

Sounds good - wish mine would do that.
Must be some on ebay.

Q. If you can't get one does the vehicle have to be scrapped?

More or less, would be too expensive to get a new type approved one - exceeds the value of the car.

Hmmmm just did an online search and for my car ("W" reg THOR its about £131 per CAT?).
Why are GEM's ones no longer available?

Assume this is a particular problem with the German test not allowing non type approved?

What utter nonsense that is. It either performs as a convertor, and reduces emissions to comply with regulations or it doesn't. Crazy.

Same rule in UK for cars after 1st March 2001.

@MrGorsky gor some cheap ones a few years back. They disintegrated inside but then it was parked up for a year or so. Maybe if the car is used regularly they wouldn't corrode so badly inside. He may have put a link on one of his posts at the time.
