Morning Guys

Having recently had overheating problems with my 4.0 HSE, recently blew the top hose, have decided to change HG's, have stripped down and removed heads, heads look level and not warped, Cylinders had water in L/H two end cylinders, R/H Cylinders back and front, just want to make sure liners are ok and have attached photos of all cylinders, as close as i can get, all cylinders feel smooth and no lips, advice please would be greatly appreciated!!!!!!

Thanks

Adrian

Thanks J

Heads being Skimmed and tested tomorrow, fingers crossed, thanks for input they dont look slipped to me either, phew a relief, i was told that slippage is mainly a problem on 4.6's and pretty rare on 4.0's

I hate to burst your bubble, but slipped liners is just a common on 4.0s as 4.6s as they have the same 94mm bore.

If anything the 4.0 can be worse, as towards the end of the production run, the blocks were individually checked, with the better ones assigned to 4.6 build

i had a h/g problem with mine, twice.i replaced the standard headbolts to arp head studs and never had a problem since,i don,t know if the stretch bolts weren,t tightening up properly but the studs did the trick, but you have to use the grease supplied with them, just bloody expensive at £70 a set,but they can be reused if need be.

the water in the cylinders was prolly just residual from the system. wait and see what happens when the heads are tested. it may just be gasket failure.

had you changed the stat or checked the rad before changing gaskets?
