Anyone else see the scrap heap race thing?

The rangie ice-cream van looks good.

Mind, the dibbles with their monster pickup should have been OK, but I
suspect they used a different propshaft, or didn't secure it properly.

Good wine, a friend, or being dry, Or lest we should be by and by;
Or any other reason why. - Henry Aldrich (1647 - 1710)

Yes, the first time round, it's a repeat. Still good though.

I won't spoil the rest of the series by telling you who...

The twits took the engine but not (all) the transmission from the US
pickup. No wonder the ordinary UK propshaft gave up the ghost...

It was not the prop, they used the wrong bolts to secure it to the diff.

With out wishing to spoil it they do come up with some strange ideas at
the end

yeah, they had the axle. They implied that they'd used all the
transmission, but obviously they didn't think the propshaft counted.

I've just had a look again. They did take the axle, engine and gearbox,
no mention of the prop shaft, but the words say the whole lot front to
back.

Agreed the failure was the interface between the prop universal joint
flange and diff flange. Looking at the close up, if they were bolts and
not weld in the holes, they must have been mild steel ones. The silver
blobs don't look remotely like bolts or the remains of.

The bolts the used were indeed made of cheese, rather then mess about on test
day the prop was just welded to the diff.

On Scrapheap you never bolt anything, it will never have to come apart so you
weld it, likewise you never undo anything you cut it.
