In modern cars they try to build in crumple zones to absorb the impact so its less of a sudden stop for the occupants
Something landrover haven't taken onboard yet

The crumple zones on the Range Rover did their job or it would not have passed the test, the passenger cell also did it's job, doors stayed shut and the cell was intact, unlike the Audi.
