Have an old RR (1971) that is 90% road use, but off road it drives on nice grass. Currently on BFG all terrain tyres, but I would like something a bit more turf friendly (minimise compaction, but not skidding / scuffing)

Prefer to keep R16 6.5" wide standard rims, and money IS an object

To be honest BFG AT's are pretty damn good on turf. What they do isn't really cut into the turf, but press mud up! a less aggressive tread won't have any grip and will slide, pulling grass out. You need the bite to keep going.

At least that's what I've found, and I tow a caravan on and off grass pitches most weekends.

Try a different driving technique ... first gear, high box, minimal to no throttle and just glide over .. or third gear low box with a little throttle if it's boggy or graded, but both methods at same road speed ... extremely low ... No tight turning circles, no braking, just ease off early. ;)
