Hi everyone, owing to the fact put BFG mud terrains on and I want to carry a spare that will work been looking for a swing away carrier. I know bearmach make one BA 132A I was wondering if one has used them?

Are they easy to install and more importantly do they work well?

CHeers

P.S. if anyone has one lying around they dont want :)

I bought a pivlock - from Bullivant Engineering many years ago. Havent seen any adds lately. It worked very well. Try a Google search as there might be some second hand ones around. Also think Paddocks had something similar. Wish one was available for the P38 - if there is anyone! please let me know.

A few P38's have em I imagine they are pretty similar to the RR Classic although ive been out and about looking for one for my RRclassic too.
ive been thinking about a roof mount if its possible without going the whole hog and fitting a rack. Cant imagine that'll do any favours for the old 'aerodynamics' tho!!

Apparently Land Rover did produce a couple of cars with the spare mounted on the roof (towards the rear - and it looked good too). Ther was a very good article in one of the mags a couple of years ago. The biggest problem was getting it on and back on the roof, I think the tester did his back in during a trip in Europe! Land Rover dropped the idea. Aero wise it was OK

cheers stopover,

Might look into that then, hopefully big M/t's wont be too heavy for the roof. Seen a roof mounted spare on a Mitsubishi towards the back, and thought it looked quite good, just never seen it on a standard RR.

Shouldnt be a problem getting it off, Im still quite young and energetic! ;)

As for a roof mount. Just chuck a whell on the roof and see what it looks like. Old carpet/blanket or similar advised though.

On the swing away carrier, I am currently fabricating one. When I have it done, I'll post the pics.
