hi everybody

ive got my self a 1993 200tdi rangerover classic, ive had a look at the rear x member and i think its going to need replacing before its next m.o.t in july, as its got a small hole in it. I can buy one from paddocks for £45 and was wondering if anybody knows what they are like to fit??. Iam a mechanic and work at a garage so welding is not a problem if they do need welding in

thanks

:DBy what you have said I gather you meen the rear body crossmember and not the chassis rear crossmember:confused: if so they are not that hard to replace but you need to take both rear wings off aswell as the tailgate & bumper otherwise as I found there is no way of getting the new one in:doh: also make sure before you fully weld it in place that you refit the lower tailgate and check it closes and lines up properly if not you will later have problems with shuting and locking the top tailgate.
You may find this site very usefull as I did Classic 2-door 1977 Range Rover - Now Sold!!!

My tip is tack weld couple of braces between pillars in X formation in place of lower tailgate, they might seem to get in the way a bit when welding but when you refit tailgate and catches line up perfect it all seems worth while !
