That LPG on it at the moment is probably ancient.

If you're going that way i'd put as the chaps above say A modern Sequential Prins system.. ;)

I'm guessing you can weld? As mentioned, your correct in saying that's the seat belt mount. Arch repair kits are available with it already tacked in. The bonus of that is it's already 'curled' to the profile of the arch. I used one on mine (although I welded it the wrong way up ) mine won't be having rear seats though so not too much bother. How difficult is it to remove rear quarters from these?

Why? Do you want one? :D

Rear outer quarter panel to access the inner side panels?
LR workshop manual definitely worth having as it shows you how to do it. I have the big paper one SRR660ENWM, not cheap but worth its weight! I THINK some of it is on the internet.
Mine was easy & took it off complete with the corner panels that hold the rear lights.
Various nuts & bolts that need to be undone which are easily visible as you look around the panel inside & outside apart from the 2 little studs on a plate that are inside the wheel arch. These will almost certainly shear but are easily makeable.
Open the bottom tailgate & you can see where the corner panels are pop riveted to the body. Drill their heads off.
Check you've got everything & be aware that there is mastic/sealant involved so go carefully.
You don't need to do anything to the rear side glass or the upper corner panels (the ones with the vinyl).

ETA I've just seen Mad Hat Man's post:eek:

Much like d1 again then. Well worth doing I think!! Mine was hiding a few sins.

Not the best welding but it will hold fine...haven't done welding for a while so need to get it setup right...

And dont mention the door seals, they are getting replaced so I'm not to stressed...:);)

When you get to that stage can you explain the procedure? I want to replace mine (thankfully without the need for bodywork repairs) but even at my age it's a job I've never tackled o_O Thanks in advance.

Find a skilled welder and buy him a pint or two,he will show you how to set up the welder parameters. once they are right, the welds will be much better and easier for you. Also remember that MIG welding is less tolerant to rust and dirt because there is no flux to clean the parent material. Use a wire brush before and after assembly.

Ok thanks for the tips, I'll definitely get someone to help as that repair doesnt look the best....:(

Just a thought on the rear tailgate seals. Mine wasn't in the best of shape after 30 years of compression so I bought what is now available which was MTC2398.
Whilst it's the same shape & fits the body channel the rubber of the 'O' section which is compressed when you close the tailgates is much thicker walled than the original & consequently closing the upper tailgate becomes very difficult - if not impossible - even with the upper tailgate mounting bolts backed right out & I ended up refitting the upper part of the old one.
So don't damage the old one when taking it out!
