Range Rover 2.5 dse

Hi all i have just picked myself up a 97/98 RR 2.5 dse.
Im lost on where to look with this fault i have got. The RR runs like a watch does not smoke abit BUT is a pig to start the impression i get is like im having run back with the diesel because it needs to be turned over for some time before it starts.
I have changed the heater plugs witch was a funny thing because the lights go out on the dash but it takes 12sec more for the plugs to get the full heat and the relay switch off is that normal

What on earth are you doing in here?
Get over into the Rangie section quickly before you get contaminated.
Then we'll tell you to check your in-tank pump.
