Could someone tell me what's the easiest way of knocking this in to the top of the swivel ball without damaging it?Should I heat the ball and freeze the bush?I've also heard that it's recommended to replace it with the newer type,i.e. roller bearings top and bottom,or is this just idle pub chat I've been paying too much attention to?

Defo replace with the taper roller type :) much easyer . Hit the new ones in with socket and hammer on the outside of the bearing race , then shim it all up ( pay attention to how much you shim them , if you shim too much one way your ball seal will leak etc ) .
Read the manual on how to do it right and you shouldnt have any probs .
