The lady who owned my Discovery before me replaced the radio with an off the shelf Halfords type job. It doesn't work off the controls on the steering wheel at all.

I'm thinking of replacing it with the original style one but see that there are a few different types. Do I need to make sure i get the same one as was there originally or do they all work?

Secondly the reception on the current radio seems to be crackling a lot and not re-tuning whilst driving about. My guess is there's a problem with the arial - so my question is, where is it? Any tips to try?

Thanks,

Joe

Replace the car radio first before doing anything with the aerial; The reception could be a problem with the tuner itself!

Sorry I can't answer the other question, but I'd call LR themselves to be certain.

Ive just replaced mine with an "Halfords" off the shelf thingy, as the original single cd player wouldnt work at all.. so ripped out original & connected a correct wire lead block that goes straight into existing wiring, then to back of new stereo, Halfruds did tell me i could also purchase a separate lead block that will enable the steering controls too, but was another 20 odd squid so i didnt bother, took me literally 10 mins to remove, replace all, works perfect now, i did however need an additional areal adaptor plug that they advised,

Dont they all have the same aerial then? :D

NO!

For you info and I shall say this only once :D

Some D2s have two aerials both with amplifers but can also have just one with with an amp like a D1, but D1 can just have a wing top aerial without an amp. All depends on model.

Then we can go into the difference in headunits...but I won't
