outbackjack,

it might be held in by alan keys and not push in pins.
found this out when i had the phone kit fitted to mine.
think it is 2.5mm

Sometimes the stereo unit has a 6mm threaded stud on the back with a retaining nut to stop the unit being removed. You have to gain access to the rear of the unit somehow. Cant imagine how! Just looked on the LR manual, its the same info as posted already.
If its a standard LR unit then it SHOULD come out. Are you sure you have pushed the pins right in as far as they go and felt the retaining mechanism being released? I know mine which is standard just pops out. Dont think you should have to dismantle the interior just to get a stereo out!

Just got the radio cassette player out today, thats four seperate days trying over three months. Had the clocks out, the glove box and even the passenger airbag out.

Brother in law managed to prise the radio air vent off [ I`d tried that and given up because I thought I`d break it.] That gave access to the back of the radio. The 6mm threaded stud had a rubber bung attached, which was so tight in the dashboard socket, that it needed a screwdriver to lever it out.

All sorted know, Aiwa cd installed at last.:)

I thought so. I will take the head unit out and check the cabling in the dash. I think CD stacks are pretty useless these days. Better with a simple CD tuner with a jack for MP3/ipod.

Just bought a small mount for the ipod that plugs straight into the cigarette lighter and broadcasts the ipod tunes on FM. Tune the radio to the right freq and reception is fantastic and sound quality is great too. Got 300 hours worth of music to listen to now!!!..aaahhh something for those long outback roads;););););)

Andyknows have you still got the stereo out of your disco as ive got a CRAPPPY SILVER jobby in mine cd player that i hate and want origional back in that can attach to the multiplayer and dash controls, willing to pay. cheers Andy PM me if you can help:D
