Hi All.

Recently bought me first disco !! :D

Got a '51 Plate GS TD5 ... I am trying to figure out the specs of the car radio. It is the stright radio/cassette bue I have my iPod which can connect through a Line In jack. Does anybody know if there is one ?

I have tried looking at the Land Rover Owners Tech Site but no use so far ... Will only get my car end of the month when I return to the UK so cannot check myself

Any help would be much appreciated !!!

Thanks.
Stuart

I have the same radio, but also have cd changer under drivers seat. I believe that various firms do a unit that plugs into the changer unit to operate the ipod, I intended doing this, but I now use an "itrip" which is a little fm transmitter that plugs into the top of the ipod, & you simply tune the radio to that frequency, perfectly good qaulity sound & very much cheaper.

Thanks Alot StuHan.

Got myself an itrip, so hopefully should work out quite well. My experience from using it here (Tanzania) is that you set to one station but along your travels you hit interference....

I gather then that that should not really be an issue in UK ?

Hi

I have an old fashion solution. If you have a tape deck in your stereo you can get a false tape with a wire that plugs into your headphone jack and that'll play whatevery you've plugged into the stereo. I used to use it for my personal CD player but of course it could be for a in TV, PS2, etc. And definately, no interferance just a thin wire if you can cope with it!

Although I bought mine yonks ago I noticed Currys had one on their shelf just yesterday with the other ipod stuff.

My problem is I have a Creative Zen and no tape deck so I'm wondering if that itrip will work with my Zen? Anyone out there know?

Good luck

I had the Philips head unit with CD changer under the seat. had a problem with the lead and in a moment of impetuousness in Argos, I got a sony head unit which plays normal cds, mp3/wavs on CD as well as a tuner and you can take the front off and plug it into your pc and put a GB of music in it like an MP3 player. Cd changers are antique.

Hi Boozo ...

Have a look here (Griffin Technology - Zune Accessories) they do the iPod ones and also for other makes.

Managed to pick me up a Tomtom 910 with audio function so think must get all the items together and see if I can get a workable solution ... ipod, tom tom, car radio etc etc .. Although quite fancy this new Bluetooth stereo's that have come out. Can get a Sony one for £130 !!

Thanks for you help !!

Hi Stuartc

Thanks for the link, but mines not always compatible with iPod stuff (even though Creative make some of their kit and rebrand it - apparantly, learn all sorts from Forums!). Anyway, because it started me thinking, I started to research the reviews for the FM transmitters. Pitty I have to go down this avenue as I rather like the sound of plug in and download, but can't change my head unit as Satnav is incorporated in it.

I've plumped for a AudiaX DGT-202, because it got good reviews. It's due to arrive tomorrow, so fingers crossed.

I'll let you know what I think of it in due course.
