Radio problems

Hello all! I purchased a 98 Discovery about a year ago. It has it's querks, as I'm sure they all do, but I love it. I am having a slight problem with the radio that began a couple months back. I have the code, so that is not the issue. For some reason, I am only getting sound out of the rearmost speaker, and at a greatly reduced volume (it can only be heard when the engine is off). I have checked the wiring and it seems ok, and the fuse on the back of the stock radio looks intact. Its very strange, as the sound began going out intermittently, and is now gone altogether, except as I mentioned above... Kinda frustrating as it isn't much fun driving in silence, and playing music over my phone isn't much of a substitute! Has anyone heard of this issue before or have any ideas what it might be? I'm considering just replacing the stereo with a cheap aftermarket deck but not really sure that's gonna resolve the problem! I'd be grateful for any thoughts or ideas!

First of all try the settings on the radio make sure the fader isnt turned all the way to the rear speakers, then try the balance to make sure that isnt turned right down or all loaded on one side

I would first check if there is any resistance in the wires using a multimeter, then check the speakers by taking the radio out and using the working channel and a loose it of cable test each of the speakers in turn to make sure they work. Then more than likely chuck out the original LR headunit and get a decent one from an autoshop. You can get a Bluetooth / iPod compatible one for about £100 now which will give a much better sound quality

i would say the built in amp has gone u would have to be very very very unlucky for 3 or 4 speakers to go at same time get on ebay :] my last cd player cost me £1.94 hehe

Two actually

1, Introduce your self.
2, Does your radio have a reset button?

:welcome2:

Try and find the button with the letters 'FM' on it. Once you have found it, extend one of your delicate digits sufficiently to press it in. Please ensure that you do not chip your nail polish as that could result in time-consuming repairs.

Sorry, I forgot my manners ... :welcome2: Anneusa ;););)
