Me again I'm afraid!!

Got a little niggle with the radio on the P38. It lights up but the screen is blank. Nowhere to input the code and no sound. Any thoughts? is the radio f......knackered?
Have tried the original one and a spare that my husband had knocking about and the same response on both.........

Thanks :D
Andrea

Its the original stereo (Both of them)

Just realised that I'm a little confusing! I mean that both of the stereos we've tried are originals!!

In my version, I have to use the preset Number 1 to start entering the code....then use the scroll/tuneing buttons to select the number, then press 1 again to store it....use scroll buttons again to set the next code, press 1 again ...etc etc until the code has been entered....

Press 1 first and see what happens....

As attached for my model....

Hiya, thanks for the advice. The LCD display glows green but nothing else (either ---- or numbers) shows up.

Steve has hit the nail on the head. Is the radio knackered or are we missing a wire somewhere? It looks as if there has been some creative wiring done at some point behind the radio

It is possible then that the radio is not getting power.I think the backlighting receives power and control via BECM and maybe instument cluster.

Will cost around £80 for a full refurb, (Incl. new LCD panel) from the main service place...Clarion, based in Wilts. Have a look at their listings on Ebay.

If you don't have the security pass with the car, go to your neaerst main stealer with the log book and proof of I.D. and ask them for the radio code, EKA and Lockset Bar Code . This information is readily available to them on the LR database and they are obliged to supply it to the registered owner. RAVE contains a downloadable copy of the owners handbook, if you should need it which covers radio/ICE information etc. including "How to input the radio code"......providing of course, that it is the original radio !!!
In your circumstances, as being the new owners of a P38, download of RAVE is an absolute essential first move, especially if you have no experience of the tempremental bitches and what they can throw at you !!!
My opinion...for what it is worth, is that you get the basics sorted before looking at the little extras which make no difference to the operation and driveability of the car. Get it up and working first before worrying about the radio...matter of priorities really.
