Hi all,

Range rover p38 Autoboigraphy, 2000 with Kardon stereo system,

Think we have problem with amp, radio always comes on full volume, tried another radio still the same,

so tring to find the amp, Its not with the subwoofer or the CD changer,

Any ideas ???

Scott

the radio signal amp is under one of the parcel shelf supports, the amps as in the type boy racers have are on each door. i suspect its not these.

there will be a setting in the radio somewhere to set the volume it comes on at!

SOUND CONTROLS
1. On/off and volume control
Press to switch on (display shows ’RANGE
ROVER’, followed briefly by ’CODE’). Press
again to switch off.
Rotate steadily to right or left to adjust the
volume.
The volume can also be adjusted using the
remote switches on the steering wheel (see
’Owner’s handbook’).
NOTE: The volume level will automatically
increase or decrease according to the vehicle
road speed, thereby combating any
additional road or wind noise that may be
experienced.

NOTE: If you have a car telephone with a
mute signal output connected to the stereo
system, radio, tape or CD play automatically
mutes when the telephone is in use.
2. Audio selection button
Press one or more times to select bass,
treble, balance, fader and on some models,
subwoofer control and digital sound
processing (DSP). The audio system display
confirms selection.
NOTE: The subwoofer control, and associated
display, operate only with the optional
subwoofer unit.
Bass:
Press once, then rotate volume control to left
or right to reduce or increase bass response.
Display shows:
’BASS - 9’ = minimum bass
’BASS 0’ = normal bass
’BASS + 9’ = maximum bass
Treble:
Press twice, then rotate volume control to
left or right to reduce or increase treble
response. Display shows:
’TREB - 9’ = minimum treble
’TREB 0’ = normal treble
’TREB + 9’ = maximum treble

Hi,

Thanks for that, yes thats what we thought but there is no menu to change this setting, its the Alpine AMR 6285 head unit,

we found it works ok with the top middle plug removed from the radio, it has single pink wire in it, then it works ok, but sound is very quiet as we belive this is for the amp ???

Scott

Depending on which setup you have, there are either individual door amps, or potentially an amp on the passenger side inner wing.

you maybe right but with this disconnected, the volume is very quiet and wont turn up
louder, like you wouldnt hear it if you were driving,,

thats what makes me think its the amp that controls the radio and said speakers ???

the main amp in a 2000 vogue h/k system is behind the subwoofer, the subwoofer and cd unit needs to be removed, then the sound proof material and you will see the amp as it is right in the bodywork,it has one big multiplug on it and three 10mm bolts holding it in,if it has gone stand by for a big bill from the dealer about £3-400,don,t buy from fleabay as people try to palm off knackered ones on there, this is a common problem, thats why i ripped all mine out and put full aftermarket system in,and it was still cheaper than a new amp
