I fitted the paddocks rad muff to my TD5 last winter, no problem with over heating and good for keeping the mud out. I took it off to give it a good wash and found the metal rings crimped into the muff were pulling out. NO problems with Paddocks sending out a replacment.
Going to make a muff for the Series, it's not so much the heater is poor, it's just that there is more draughts than the heater

On an aside, JP. I have a sheet of steel with a lip along the top, which I slide between the rad and the rubber sealing strip that runs along the top. That fits very well. That is because I haven't found a rad muff or blinds that fit a Disco.( a good business opportunity there :)).
I have found tho, that without a steering guard, in deepish water, water does tend to be thrown up behind the rad and over the engine more.

Being bit of a cheapskate I made a rad muff up using two tesco rubber car floor mats (£1.29 each) and some zip ties. Didn't cost much.

I used to zip-tie to the back of the grille...:D:p

Thanks for the tip Dippy. Only had the Defender 3 weeks and keep learning and doing bits.

Just zip tied a 3mm piece of rubber chequer floor mat to the back of the grill.
Temp gauge remained in same position but had to turn the heater down as the air was much warmer.

Better late than never.
