Well having checked all conections and the lead to antenna all seemed ok,but fob still only works up close to window near antenna. ran second wire to antenna checked everything again,fob still only work up close to window by antenna by now totally. go have coffee come out to show wife whats wrong and fxqx me it only works all round the car allbeit only within about three feet but none the less it works must have been the wife looking at it.

Totaly agree car's got to stay and after 40 yrs the wifes a classic could'nt possibly get rid now and the trade in price would be to low

Kaiser, have you tried all this just in one location? There could be some strong interference there...

Thanks for the input have tyried different locations but still same, but at least it's now working all around the car to a distance of about 3-5 feet i can live with that. i need to solder couple of connections but soldering iron packed up, so maybe when i've done that may get better result still, or maybe just get wife to look at iot longer:hysterically_laughi

Someone i spoke to on the Phone told me his Rf box, (latest type) was the same, low reception. the first he brought did not even work. so there may be a dodgy batch going round. is battery's ok in fob? have you replaced them lately. fitting extra wires will make no difference as the length of the wire is set to the frequency of the fobs frequency. If fob battery's are ok and you have just brought the latest Rf box take it back and ask for a replacement.

Hi dougdotcom, it was me who spoke to you, i was going to give you a call to update you.I think i may have problem with the fob as everything else seems ok now, thinking of sending it to one of these fob repair services ?? but the outer casing on mine is not great is it possible to take out the inside and the key blade and put in another housing.
