wouldn't think so m8, hdc works off the abs sensors on the wheels and applies the brakes to suit

Would be inclined to agree, although it only works in 1st and reverse its function is to control the descent using the brakes via the ABS controller so it should still work. The remaining drive wheels will continue to maintain forward motion to drive out of the slope.

Ok, thanks...not really too bothered as i dont use the thing 'off road'. Its just that there are no dash lights for HDC when its engaged...TC and ABS works fine. Maybe a fuse?

I don't think the light comes on when driving normally, even if it's engaged. Only when it actually needs to work such as on a steep decline does the light come on. Am i right?

if i remember rightly doesn't it come on when you switch it on with a steady light in first and reverse and a flashing light in the other gears, could be wrong though:D

gegs88 is right. HDC is only active in 1st and reverse, and should bring up a steady warning light on the dashboard, the sysmbol being the same as on the HDC switch. On mine it's green. When it's switched on but in any other gear, the dash light flashes as a reminder that you have it switched on, but it is inactive.

Ok...so I am seeing no dash lamps at all, like I said its not a problem, but I'd like to know that everything works as it should!!

usually the wires break on the switch on the gearlever, expose the wires and have a quick look m8
