Hi all,
Just a quick question. Does anybody know the size tubing I need and how to create my own wading kit/breather tubes for my Freelander 1? I have just got back from Billing and all they seem interested in are Defenders. Nobody seems to expect Freelanders to do what we know they can. Many thanks.

Billing was that on today? we do not seem to get notifications when the shows are on. and that is why I stopped having all the landrover mags as they do not pay any attention to the freelander.

Do you want to go wading? The Freelander shouldn't be subjected to water depths over 400mm. Water and the abrasives contained in the water do lots of damage to the drive belts. At 400mm the alternator is also under water.
It will float if water is deeper than 500mm.
It you are just after a RAI then from memory 68mm springs to mind.

I stay out of deep water. The engine belts chuck it around the engine bay. Sand, clay and mud in the water destroy bearings and oil seals. Something I was told by a tratterer some years ago which I try to stick to.

I used screen washer tubing when I made my wading kit. My alternator and water pump were killed by the liquid concrete at the off road course at the LRO show at Driffield.

do not for get to keep the engine revs up a bit or the water will come back in the exhaust and then you will stop running. also you need extensions on the diff breather
