Hi I'm mark I have got a freelander the engine management light comes on at anytime but go,s off if I take foot of accelerator then comes back on at anytime but does not come on if just ticking over can anyone help me with this problem

Sounds to me like the CO2 sensor in the exhaust pipe, aka Lamda Sensor. I had similar with a different vehicle. I could be wrong but that's what it sounds like to me. If it's not the sensor, it could be the fuel mix. Check the sensor first...

Hi Mark and welcome,
Sounds VERY seriouse to me. Have you considered scraping it and getting something proper lick a P38 ;)
There were a couple of P38s on our weekend trip. One of them (owned by a guy with at least 6 of them and a L322) had been decatted and had some "resonators" (or what ever) fitted to the exhaust... it sounded like it could climb Everest while towing a Jumbo jet. It was a nice piece of kit, and of course they have the viscous transmission, so they're almost as good as a Freelander! Everyone was having a great time, until I told them that I was averaging 43mpg for the trip - the V8 guys soon went quiet and started crying into their beer then.
