When I was stripping the engine I stood for a second wondering how the pump drive came out. I had a prod as you do and eventually found the grub screw under the oil filter housing that held it in.

Before that however :oops::oops: I had a delve in the top end as I could see a circlip lurking at the bottom of the top spline.

I hardly touched it honest o_O just a little flick with mi prodder. It broke. :( Snapped in two. Now I cant get a new circlip in it. I cant even see a slot I could get one in.

My question is................ Does it have one or had a scrap one just found its way into the hole and sat there awaiting my incompetence. o_O

IN ERE...............................

We’re you able to identify it as an internal or external circlip, I fancy it was external and belongs to the pump
This is what I’m thinking. From what I can see the main cog on the top is one piece so no reason for a circlip in there at all.
It’s hard to see anything under there with all the bits of cyclists.

I’ll have scan round the floor and see if I can find the bits:oops:

Have you looked for a piccy of a replacement pump drive ... for research purposes of course ...might have been just to stop it walking off of the top ...

Well it seems the sod does have a circlip in it. The centre section/rod/spline receiving starfish actually slides up and down inside and the clip is to stop it rising too high.

There is a tiny recess in there. :)
