Hi All,

Just wondered if anyone could shed any light on this job.
I need to replace mine and from what I am reading its a body off job. Has anyone got any different ways or has done this job before that could help with the process.
Its a 2007 Puma Defender 110 XS 5dr.

Thanks

lt's not a body off job, you have to cut the ends off the old one with an angle grinder to get it out. Take out the screws and remove the rear floor panel to access the main part of the old one, and fit the new one.
The new one can be bought with bolt on end brackets so you can slide it in then fit the brackets afterwards.

Be aware that the body will drop about 5mm when you remove the mid crossmember and will need a trolley jack to raise it a little when you fit the new one.

That is the case for the TD5 one, if you see the link in my last post the Puma mid member has four uprights which are welded on. As far as I am aware they dont do a bolt in Puma mid crossmember.

Oh okay sorry my mistake l missed that.

Has the mid crossmember gone? l changed my 2005 TD5 one but when l got the old one off it didn't really need replacement

Not gone, but according the the mechanic who has highlighted it, it needs replacing at somepoint. He reckons it too far gone to weld up. Not quite sure how to go about it as don't want a body off job. If I have to do that, I would just put a full galv chassis in. BIG BUCKS:confused:
