Evening all,

Long-time Defender luster here. I have the opportunity to purchase a 2015 2.2 XS 110. My dream car for a reasonable cost. However, I am unsure whether I should be concerned over the rust visible in a video I asked the seller to send over.

Will be viewing on Tuesday but if anybody here can give a preliminary heads up of the screenshots from what I consider the worst of it it would be much appreciated.

Thanks all and happy NY

Being a Freelander owner I didn't realise cars rust.

Use a drain unblocker on a jet wash to clean out the chassis. Clean underneath. Let it all dry. Treat with https://www.lanoguard.co.uk/

Rust is a concern with tratterers but there's also the theft concern. They're too easily stolen and over priced. If you get it you will need to fit a tracker as well as increasing general security.

Agreed with our mate, the freelander might not rust but can go into 2wd mode at any point along with the fl2:p
Welcome;)

Thanks all, good to know nothing of too much concern is visible. Thanks @Hippo for the heads up re the Lanoguard will bear it in mind come summer.

As for security I’ve a few things in mind to do which will help; will definitely look in to the trackers too.

Will post a new thread if purchased on Tuesday and do a general intro. Now, to the pub….

Thanks again all.

Youtube AutomatricsMtrack, not cheap but then neither is a 2015 defender.

Hi and welcome!

Given the condition of some landies from the same year, that’s not bad at all! It’s not covered in wax or anything to hide any major issues from the photos so it looks like it’s worth further investigation. Once you buy it, in the summer get it properly jet washed and rust proofed underneath, as mentioned.

And security has been mentioned but we’ll mention it again. Tdci landies in particular are very popular with thieves so make sure it remains yours.

Let us know how you get on.
