Also add that the trailer cannot exceed 750 kgs so its small trailers only,

Yep, small trailers and flat beds only pretty much!

I have a new style linscene which only allows me to pull 750kilo but you can't exceed 3.5ton so with the weight of the rangie I can tow 600kilo I'm now in the process of doing the trailer test which will then allow me to tow the max weight of vehicle and trailer combine which is like 6.2tonne

Yep, and its bl00dy expensive too FWIW! £300 minimum I think?

THE WIFE shes big and a fully dismantald concrete garage 8x10foot on a 14foot ifold Williams trailer and pulled a p38 dse on the same trailer the car was fine the trailer didn't like it

Ps if you tow more than3 1/2 ton and you passed you test I think after 1996 you need to take a trailer test and also a combined of 81/2 ton too

I tow my 1.5t mini digger on a twin axle trailer with buckets etc, that must be getting on for 3t. I've towed it in my current Defender 90 (200Tdi) and my old RRC V8 - The Rangy was much better.

In the Range Rover I had a larger machine on there a few times as well that must have been right on the 3.5t limit - no problems

Big, BIG girl in Chorley was very interested one night. But did not bother as i did not have a board to tie across my ankles with my name and address on in case i fell in. :D:D

Do you need special insurance for carrying horses? due to their value..

Not that I know of. We also have a 7.5 tonne Mercedes for our horses and insurance is only £200 a year - so no expensive horse premiums as far as I know lol

The 6litre lorry is cheaper to run than my td6 ! Lol

Santa's Sleigh count as weird? It was a homemade botch job so probably weighed more than the earth.

Also add that the trailer cannot exceed 750 kgs so its small trailers only,

Thats not totally true.

Taken from DVLA site

Category B: Vehicles up to 3.5 tonnes MAM and with up to eight passenger seats

Category B vehicles may be coupled with a trailer up to 750kgs MAM (allowing a combined weight up to 4.25 tonnes MAM) or a trailer over 750kgs MAM provided the MAM of the trailer does not exceed the unladen weight of the towing vehicle, and the combination does not exceed 3.5 tonnes MAM.
For example:

  • a vehicle with an unladen weight of 1.25 tonnes and a MAM of 2 tonnes coupled with a trailer with a MAM of 1.25 tonnes could be driven by the holder of a category B entitlement. This is because the MAM of the combination does not exceed 3.5 tonnes and also the MAM of the trailer does not exceed the unladen weight of the drawing vehicle

True that with a range your not left with much change before hitting the 3.5T mark anyway

I used the Cherokee to tow the wifes rangie home when her starter motor fubared. It was about 10 miles and I managed to break a 3 ton tow rope in the process. The old Jeep never worked so hard in its life. I learned that its prudent to clean the **** out of the fins on the tranny cooler from time to time..:D
