It amazes me how little people do to protect their privacy and how easy it is to find some one.

Being creatures of habit people tend to use the same user name or email address across the internet - search engines can easily find two related Items.

If you have a website for personal use register it as non trading, companies register website address to company.

Your email address, don't use your name and surname-that and a location it is easy to find you

Electoral roll you can tick a box to opt out of normal electoral roll which is sold to businesses. Do this and it would take a trip to persons local library to find address.
On the normal electoral roll and a quick check within a 50 mile radius of known location-your easily found.

Running a company and registered at companies house-register contact address at your accountants and not your home.

Home phone numbers are a big no no on adverts as well

Ebay and Social networking are also potential private data leak sources.

Change your number to ex directory.

the other one is posting photos of your car with its number plate showing, really not hard to get your info with this

so much for the data protection act
not hard for these scammers to find you really if they have your name

More a case of careless control of public domain data and peoples poor understanding that a search engine can drag up things in seconds

Harder to access unless you work for police etc, but if you have a legitimate use parking fines on private land etc-DVLA WILL RAT YOU OUT.
So if you are really worried about it then no number plates.

But for forum purposes, costs money and not likely

but why are you paranoid about somebody tracking you down?

have you been posting pics of the family silver on facebook?

I'm not, just if I can find someone in seconds- someone undesirable could do the same.

Snigger.

Thing is - I want peeps to find me :).
And my name, addy and tel numbers are posted in loads of places.

I need friends .

Stuff you keep you could open a private museum-nobody will steal your gear as you need an artic for it.

Hmmm copper (joke)

No fooker can find where I live, even when I give em directions.

My computer skills are " basic " to say the least, and, although I,m not concearned about some undesirable turning up at my door, It is worrying to think about I.D. theft and people using your address for wrong doing.

I,m ex-directory on the phone, and opted out of that Electoral roll thingy.

Can you " find me " Fanny ?, what more can I doo ?.

Del.

Your safe, my advice is selling gear on the internet meet at a pull in, only give a £10 throw away mobile number if you won't know where other person lives.

Big no no are full names and home numbers
