Which brand of propshaft should I buy?

Im going to replace both my propshafts on my 110 300tdi. There seems to be various prices available..

Local independent supplier - front £65, rear £79 (brand not known)
Paddocks sell Hardy Spicer props - front £82, rear -£115
My local LR dealer wants £490 + vat:eek::eek::eek: for both

Mostly driven on road, hardly any off road driving. Any suggestions appreciated. Thanks.

Higher angles before knuckling = better for off road. Also slightly uprated from the older ones (300 tdi) to cope with the small amount of extra power from the TD5 lump.

Why do you want to replace your shafts are they damaged??

My mechanic warned me a few months ago that one was on its way out. Im having my 110 rebuilt on a new chassis so Id like to put new props & Ujs on at the same time.:)

Try thexmod.com i got a rear genuine propshaft for my 90 for about £60

Thanks Ill have a look at their site.:)

Paddocks are out of stock of the Hardy Spicers, so I need to look elsewhere.

GKN are aviation spec so very good. I believe Landy ones are just OEM ones repackaged and repriced. I was just going to suggest changing the UJ's its pretty easy if you have a vice...

LR dealers are cnuts...i have no idea how they remain in business or why anyone is dumb enough to use them.

I know what you mean, Ive often rang my local dealer to compare prices of parts, and had to have a lay down after:eek:

Although, when sourcing new dampers and springs recently, my dealer was only about £20 dearer than the independent I bought from.
