hello all,

Hoping for some advice on how a propshaft should be aligned...

I just purchased a new front propshaft for my project landy ('94 200tdi defender) and noticed that the new shaft doesn't have the propshaft yokes in alignment.

I was taught (years ago) that the yokes on the shaft itself should be parallel so that the two UJ's 'cancel out' making the complete propshaft work as a CV joint.

there are alignment arrows stamped on the parts of the shaft either side of the splines and they are aligned, but the yokes are at about 45 degrees.

Should I re-align the shaft with the yokes parallel (but the shaft has presumably been balanced as it is)? or send it back to Island 4x4? or should I just fit it as supplied?

thx

No. The fronts are supposed to be phased differently. It's phased correctly don't mess about with it.

OK, thanks, I'll fit it as is then (good job I asked!) - though I still wonder why it's like that.

I've always found this come in very handy
