Went out with the lads for a day's green laning, had an awful lot of fun, sustained a bit of damage and we were defeated by one lane, but it was a hoot
Our little brew stop atop the Devils punch bowl.
Smashing little thing this, little and light, just what the doctor ordered.
Bit tight and it was a bit of an axle twister with some very steep side slopes.
Took me some footage to show what it was like from the cab.
And Mrs. Dieseldog even managed to video me from up on the high ground, the video doesn't do it justice I think.
This was the lane that defeated us and the lads looking over the tricky bit that cross axled the 90.
Seems that a bit of digging on that lane reveals it has defeated a good number of people and needs a bit of repair, nothing a few blokes with pick axes and shovels couldn't fix up or at least make it passable again.
Sustained a bit of damage too
Wing mirror was removed by a telegraph pole that was very tight on a hole in the lane.
Dented me door and a few scrapes on the side where I slid into the gulley washout.
But it was a brilliant day out, waffle boards ordered and I've got a new fibreglass handled pick axe and a long handled spade coming from work too.
Looking forward to the next outing and hoping that we can grad a few more of the other lads out to play too.

I was happy to pull into the Tesco jet wash before I brought all that mud home with me, very good day out, you gotta come out with us some time

No idea. Not knowledgable on it. Whatever the last guy had on her. A little bald and not nearly chunky enough.
Pretty dinky. A friend has a series 2 with huge tyres. He said he got the set for around 350. I’ll have to ask what his are.

They look like 205/80r16 radial tyres.

I could be busy this weekend.
Timing belt kit.
Also in the package was a nice new tensioner pulley and a new idler pulley, along with new crank oil seals for inner & outer sides of the timing case, I've got a cam inner timing case seal in my stores too so will pop the whole timing chest off for new seals and gaskets while I'm in there.
And a proper Dayco timing belt.
Also my genuine Land Rover 200Tdi oil thermostat turned up too and I got an O ring for the housing.
Now compare new to old, both were cold at the time!
Old one sticks out a 1/4" and was letting the oil strait to the cooler, not ideal as warming it raises the viscosity of a multi grade oil, but my oil pressure gauge shows 30psi at hot tick over and 55-60psi cold, normal running with moderate engine speed is 40 to 45psi running 0.7 BAR of boost by the gauge, might up that a little but it is absolute manifold pressure after the expansion of the intercooler and intake manifold so I'm not in any hurry to start tweeking it yet.
This will also be the start of fitting the Gwynn Lewis second alternator mount and my second alternator set up on Rusty too

That off roading you did looks like jolly good fun. Plus if you break something while off roading it just gives you another excuse to fix something on your landy The most mine has ever seen is a few fields and farm tracks never anything as extreme as that. Bit too scared of denting it.

Great fun, little bit of damage is no big drama on a full size truck like a Discovery or Range Rover, the dents and scrapes serve as reminders of the fun you've had and the journeys you've been on.
When I took on the rebuild it was planned to make it the perfect off road vehicle that could travel long distances and haul a load in comfort whilst tackling some of the roughest terrain, this is what it was built for, no great pampering and polishing it every Sunday, you gotta drive it and love every minute of driving it.

Oh yeah! Could so easily have been me replacing a smashed rear alpine light though, that telegraph pole had you guys not hung off the back corner
It was rather close to the roof Mind you though there were a few trees on another lane that were also quite close too.
