Hi all,

Does anyone have any advice regarding an audio fault?

Ive got a Premium Sport 04 TD4, the sound seems to playing fine thru the left hand side back and front. But on the right I only have sound coming out of the tweeters back and front?

I'm hoping that its a loose/absent connection somewhere but not sure were to start fault finding. Also I've only just picked up the car this week, so I'm a complete Freelander noob in terms of were everything is in the vehicle, but happy to go find it.

Cheers in advance if anyone has any advice

Sounds like you need to be playing with the radio controls.

I've checked the balance controls - that's how i sussed that it was only the tweeters on the right hand side that were working.

No warranty either - private sale. Still, this appears to be the only issue so can't complain!

Is the amp under the passenger seat and accessible? I thought I'd check the ins and outs on that first as a starter for 10....

Just found a bit of condensation in the rear cubby. I can see a few wires in there hooked up to what I presume is the sub?

Bizarre coincidence, but I found an amp and 2 subwoofers in the sealed cubby hole of my FL1 millenium today. Didnt know they were there before. Sadly condensation has wrecked the entire system. Shame!!
But i still have all remaing tweeters and mid range speakers working fine.

Sadly I think you'll find the speakers will be faulty. I had to replace all for speakers on ours after similar problems. I found that the speakers were open at the rear allowing water to drip down onto them from the window seal.
Each one has a in line plastic connector plus a connector onto the speaker so it could be a wet connection but I doubt it.
I covered the new speakers in plastic and sealed them off at the rear preventing it happening again.
If you do replace the speakers refit a sponge packer on the rear of the magnet as per the originals as this prevents the glass from touching the magnate.

The Harmon Kardon Power Amp is under the seat with a single multipole connector. It has a clever locking latch system which is a bit difficult to describe but I dont think your problem lies there anyway.
The two speakers in each door are fed from the same pair of terminals from the amp with the tweeter in parallel with the mid range. If the tweeters are working then some drive is getting to the door. There is no form of crossover, the designer is just depending on the inability of the speakers to work outside their range.
The sub is fed separately from the power amp

So replacing those two speakers sounds like a good bet. I presume they are jo longer available as original parts. Has anybody used any other makes?

That is a real shame, have you looked on eBay to see if there are any subs on there? Must be a scrapped Freelander floating around somewhere that could sort you out.

I thought about putting a bead of silicone under the lid of the cubby to keep the wet out.
