im looking to lift my disco 2" but all i seam to beable to find are pro comp shocks i know a few people who have had them and said dont bother cos they keep braking them, the only the other ones i seam to able to find are britpart ones in the lift kits but there only standard length, has any one else had problems with pro comp or have they just been unlucky.

I am going to assume that all the bad things heard about Procomps are the breaking of the top rings/eyelets on rear shocks. IME this has always been due to incorrect fitting of the outer washer on the shock bush.

Terrafirma do seem to be the fashionable mid-budget kit at the moment and I've not heard anything bad about the kit itself. I have also run Procomps and DeCardons shocks in comp safari applications and have had no bother with either despite common wisdom that "they are crap".

aye Andy your spot on - the main reason Pro-Comp shocks break is that the top mount is done up to tight, this puts all the strain onto the thread and it snaps. leave the nut a little loose (its a nylock so it wont come undone) and let the bushes take some of the flex and movement. ive had my Pro-Comps on for about 8 months now, they've been 'used' and they're still perfectly fine.

I thought it was the domed washer being put on backwards and not leaving the shock and rubber pivot away from upright. Soo many standard vehicles have the washer put on wrongly and it doesn't help offroad at all.
