Hi
Looking at having some preventative maintenance on my Freelander 2.
It’s an SD4 on a 13 plate with just over 80k and doesn’t require a cambelt or water pump as that was renewed a few years ago.

I have no issues to report, other than the brake pedal does feel a bit spongey, but I wouldn’t class this as class this as a fault as such. With this in mind would it be worth having the brake fluid replaced and having braided brake hoses fitted?

Should I get the Haldex serviced?

When I got the vehicle I did an oil, oil filter change and air filter. But it’s having another service in a month or but not on my driveway this time.

Any thoughtful comments welcome but if your reading this thinking sell it and buy ‘insert vehicle’ then this thread isn’t for you

Cheers and thanks in advance J

Auto or Manual.
Maybe get the gear box fluid changed, yes worth having the brake fluid changed because it should be done every 2yrs minimum, but i doubt many owners do with any car.

You could always try and do the rear diff drain plug if the area is there for it to be done, also PTU drain plug both need drilling and taping.

makes future oil change much easier PTU

Have you changed the fuel filter yet, if it's not been done in the last 2yrs. use only good quality filter.

Also the power steering reservoir that need doing about every 3yrs because it has a built in filter which is not replacable and can get clogged up, use correct fluid which should be green.

Another good job to do is remove the plastic side panels which can collect a lot of mud and dirt behind them.

Thanks @Arctic2

It’s an Auto.
Fuel filter will be replaced in a few months.

Good points mentioned.
Power steering reservoir change is a good shout, I had read that somewhere but it had slipped my mind.. would I be right in thinking LR000578 is the right part?

Thanks again for your helpful suggestions
