Pre & post facelift TD4 Performance

Hi,

I am new here this being my first post. I am on my second Freelander 1 TD4 station wagon the first being a pre facelift Y reg and this is an 04 reg so post facelift. even when I traded the old one in it was getting 37 mpg at 90k miles on the clock whereas this on at 32k has struggled to get 34. I am not alone in this as I know a couple who did the same swap and have the same complaint. Obviously Land Rover dealers give you blank looks when you ask about this but I am not dreaming it. does anyone have any idea why there should be a difference? The only thing I can think of is the mapping of the ECU. I have done the PCV swap for the BMW cyclone and the ERG bypass, both of which have made a difference but I still can't get over 34MPG

i use a synergy 2 (ron box) i get 34 to 36 mpg round town all 1 to 3 mile trips and 44+mpg on motorway . thinks thats about avrage for a manual td4 on 04 plate

Yep I have been looking at the Synergy2 box and it may well be on the list if I keep the Freelander which I want to do I must say. I like the car and the driving position. It ticks all the boxes for load carrying but just now it is going through a bad spell with mpg and starting problems. It dies and kicks out smoke then starts ok and runs well after that. I am going to get it back into a Deisel injection shop to get the injectors serviced as they are not leaking past and the hp pump was serviced last month. Then last weekend I went to open the bonnet and the cable snapped at the front end I was ready to push it in the river and walk away...
